Final Camera-Ready Paper Submission Instruction
You MUST read it carefully and strictly follow the instruction to submit your final paper

Deadline for final paper submission: April 20, 2006
(Please ignore the deadline message on the IEEE PDF eXpress site)

  • All accepted papers must be prepared according to the following instruction. Any mistakes could lead to the exclusion of your paper from the conference proceedings, the IEEE Xplore database, and other worldwide search databases. This is required by the IEEE. Sorry for the long instruction.

    Summary of instruction:

    If you miss one of these steps, your paper might not appear in the SOLI 06 conference proceedings.

    1. Create your manuscript.
    2. Proofread and check the layout of your manuscript.
    3. Create an IEEE PDF eXpress account.
    4. Convert your source files to an IEEE Xplore-compatible PDF file by IEEE PDF eXpress.
    5. Wait to receive an PDF file called PIDxxxxxx.pdf in your email.
    6. Upload the final, IEEE Xplore-compatible PDF file to the conference website, and request invitation letter(s) if needed.
    7. Submit a completed IEEE copyright form for each paper to be published in the conference proceedings.
    8. Complete your registration.

    Once again, if you miss one of these steps, your paper might not appear in the SOLI 06 conference proceedings.

  • Detailed instruction.
    • Step 1: Create your manuscript. Only papers prepared in PDF format will be accepted.
      • Paper size: US Letter format (8.5" x 11").
      • Paper length: Maximum 6 pages, including figures, tables & references. In exceptional circumstances up to two additional pages will be permitted at the cost of $100.00 per additional page.
      • Paper formatting: strictly follow the template.
      • Do not number your manuscript pages.
      • Note: Violations of any of the specifications above may result in rejection of your paper.
    • Step 2: Proofread and check the layout of your manuscript.
      • This is your paper and this is your last chance to read it and make corrections!
    • Step 3: Create an IEEE PDF eXpress account.
      • Please follow these steps.
        1. Click "New Users - Click here".
        2. Enter soli06 for the Conference ID.
        3. Enter your email address and choose a password.
        4. Click "Submit". Fill out the form as prompted. Then click "Submit" again.
        5. You will receive a confirmation of successful account setup on the screen and in email.
        6. Click "Continue" to go to the next step.
      • Now click here to create an IEEE PDF eXpress account for yourself.
    • Step 4: Convert your source files to an IEEE Xplore-compatible PDF file by IEEE PDF eXpress.
      • IEEE PDF eXpress can handle Rich Text Format, Freelance, PageMaker, FrameMaker, QuarkXpress, Word Pro, Microsoft Word, WordPerfect. I hope you can find an option for yourself and to continue to the next step.
      • Everyone please follow these steps.
        1. Click "Create New Title".
        2. Enter a title (anything will do).
        3. Click "Submit Source File(s) for Conversion to PDF". We will only accept PDF files that is emailed to you by IEEE PDF eXpress.
        4. Choose the format of your file. Then, upload your file.
        5. Wait to hear from IEEE PDF eXpress in email or on the screen about your file conversion.
    • Step 5: Wait to receive an PDF file called PIDxxxxxx.pdf in your email. Please do not rename your file.
      • Please do not delete that email from IEEE PDF eXpress.
      • It takes a few minutes to a few hours depending on the time of your submission.
      • Last time when I tried, I got a file named PID209714.pdf.
      • Please take a careful look at the file your received from IEEE PDF eXpress. Sometimes figures and other things get messed up. You have to make sure that your conversion is successful.
    • Step 6: After you proof read your PDF file, submit it to the 2006soli@ssglobal.org.
      • You must submit the PDF file named PIDxxxxxx.pdf that you received in email to make sure that we receive an IEEE Xplore-compatible PDF file. When you submit your PDF file, please put your Paper ID (Paper ID: 520xyz) in your email subject line.
      • According to IEEE, if your PDF file is not created by IEEE PDF eXpress, your paper will not be included in the conference proceedings.
      • You will get an acknowledgement email when we receive your final submission.
      • You can also request invitation letter(s) at hzshen@sjtu.edu.cn if needed. Please read the message on the message board.
    • Step 7: Submit an completed IEEE copyright form for each paper to be published in the conference proceedings.
      • Click here to download the IEEE copyright form in PDF format and click here to download the IEEE copyright form in WORD format.
      • Fill out the copyright form and sign it.
      • Make sure to write down your SOLI paper ID number (six digits, e.g., 520001) on the upper right corner of the copyright form.
      • We do not have time to match your copyright form with your paper if you do not provide me with your SOLI paper ID number. Sorry!

      You can also email your copyright form to rxs69@psu.edu (after you scan the signed form or enter your name in ALL CAPITAL LETTERS as your signature on the signature line).

  • How to ... if PDF checking failed or not satisfied with the conversion

Options (choose one)
If the PDF submitted fails the PDF check: If you are not satisfied with the IEEE PDF eXpress-converted PDF:
Option 1
Submit your source file for conversion by clicking Try again, then Submit Source Files for Conversion Resubmit your source file with corrections (Try again, then Submit Source Files for Conversion)
Option 2
Read the PDF Check report, then click "The PDF Check Report" in the sidebar to get information on possible solutions Submit a PDF by clicking Try again, then Submit PDF for Checking
